Sol’s story

Personally, I believe that the ERA National Grant is indeed an important achievement that should be mentioned in my professional CV. For me and for our group is an honor to have received this recognition from such an important institution.

In my opinion, it is a valuable opportunity for National Societies to empower and support their young members. As a young Nephrologist, I see that there is an amazing group of motivated, hard-working young colleagues wanting to collaborate and grow in their careers, and sometimes is not easy, especially at this stage of our careers. These kinds of initiatives are needed. By offering grants, it encourages young researchers to pursue their academic and professional aspirations, fostering innovation and collaboration within the field. National Societies should definitely take advantage of this offer to promote the growth and development of their young members.

From an academic standpoint, the fellowship has allowed me to learn more about ANCA-vasculitis and develop my research skills. The opportunity to collaborate within a working group (EUVAS) has helped me to learn a different research methodology. Additionally, I have had the chance to meet and be inspired by experts in this field whom I greatly admired. Their knowledge has served as a motivation for me to continue working and striving to achieve my goals. Thanks to my participation in this Fellowship, I have been able to publish articles and present several communication at international congresses.

ERA has had a significant impact on both my career and education. The resources, opportunities, and networking platforms provided by ERA have been instrumental in my professional growth. Through participation in ERA conferences, workshops, and educational programs, I have gained invaluable knowledge, expanded my professional network, and stayed updated with the latest developments in nephrology. ERA's support has positively influenced my career trajectory and enhanced my educational journey.
In fact, last year was the first time that I participated as invited speaker in an ERA Congress. The talk was about "Hypertensive Nephropathy", a very interesting topic, that has been subject of discussion in the Nephrology field during the last years. As a young Nephrologist, having the opportunity to speak and exchange ideas with other colleagues, was a very meaningful experience. The whole learning experience was amazing, and I feel motivated to keep growing in my professional life and hopefully contributing to the Nephrology field as a professional, as an educator and as a researcher.

Yes, I did take advantage of the free congress registration included in the ERA National Grant. Attending the congress was an excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge, learn from experts in the field, and engage in discussions on the latest advancements in nephrology. The congress met my educational needs and provided a platform to connect with different colleagues.
As a result, I would definitely consider attending future ERA congresses to further enrich my understanding and stay at the forefront of developments in the field of nephrology.
