ERA-ERAC MSc in Clinical Trials Fellowship
Programme overview
The MSc in Clinical Trials is a two-year, distance learning course with two residential sessions in Oxford that provides a thorough training in both the theoretical and practical aspects of conducting randomised clinical trials (more info about the course here).
The course will provide an in-depth training in, and understanding of, the principles and practice of conducting large-scale randomised clinical trials.
The course will cover different types of trials and clinical conditions, with a focus on large, streamlined clinical outcome trials in cardiovascular disease.
The fellowship covers the tuition fees plus accommodation in Oxford during both short residential sessions (travel and other expenses not mentioned above must instead be covered by the fellow).
ERAC support
The ERA-ERAC supports the training of nephrologists (ERA members only) and future clinical trials leaders by offering 3 fellowships.

Structure and contents
Teaching is delivered virtually (via online lectures, seminars, workshops and student presentations) as well as self-directed learning and independent study. All teaching will be online except for two residential periods in September and March of year 2.
The two-year programme comprises eight compulsory modules of varying length and intensity across six terms.

5. Routine health care data, Big Data and new technologies
6. Health economics for clinical trials and patient-reported outcomes

Eligibility
Only ERA members who have a serious commitment and interest in this training can apply.
Only applications from members who have successfully completed their nephrology training can be considered.
All applications must have all supporting documents, with all the needed information, submitted to Oxford University and ERA by the deadline.
There are no age criteria.
Time-table
The results of the evaluation will be sent to all applicants by ERA between May-June 2024.
The fellowship will start in October 2024 and will last two years ending approx. in October 2026.
Selection of the applicants
The MSc in Clinical Trials evaluating committee will evaluate all the applications submitted.
Only those that are eligible according to the above-mentioned committee will be sent to ERA for ERA’s evaluation.
Said applications are then submitted to the SAB for screening, scoring and ranking.
SAB’s report is then submitted to ERAC that will give a preliminary ranking of the winners.
The final approval/decision is taken by the ERA Council based on the feedback by SAB and ERAC.
The ERA Headquarters will then inform all applicants of their own results (acceptance/rejection).
