ERA Community: Members' stories

My motivation to serve as a reviewer for CKJ stems from a desire to ensure that high-quality, rigorously validated research reaches the nephrology community. I am driven by the opportunity to help shape the dialogue in the field by promoting innovation, critical thinking, and clinical relevance

ERA has had a profound impact on my career and education. The National Grant has not only boosted my confidence but has also paved the way for future academic and clinical success.

As a rather senior young investigator, the acknowledgement of the Eberhard Ritz Award reinforced me to continue my ongoing collaborations and further expanding them. It also helps to involve more investigators across the globe.

After I finished my fellowship I feel more experienced and also already started to implement the knowledge I gained but also gave me an inspiration on what should I do better. It also opened me new opportunities on studies and researching groups.

During my short-term fellowship, I participated in the meeting of the Danish Transplant Society. Further, I engaged in activities organized by the Young Aarhus Researchers in Nephrology (YARN) network, a passionate group dedicated to fostering collaboration among researchers in nephrology in Aarhus.

Being selected for the ERA Greek Long-Term Fellowship represents a significant achievement that should definitely be mentioned in my professional CV. My fellowship in Vasculitis and Lupus Research Group, at the University of Cambridge under the esteemed mentorship of Prof. David Jayne, has been the cornerstone of my early career.

Impression from the ERA initiative are very positive, they offer opportunities not only for young doctors to develop their skills and expand their knowledge in interdisciplinary care of nephrology patients.

I’ve learned the technique of bone biopsy and an approach to interpret bone histomorphometry. I have learned how the whole circuit is necessary to create a bone biopsy process. I have also learned how to set up a high-level research Project.

With the support of the ERA Fellowship, I have been able to broaden my knowledge and acquire the fundamental abilities needed to do research in the field of nephrology, particularly in the peritoneal dialysis department.

Since receiving the ERA Eberhard Ritz Award, I have been invited to speak at international meetings, have progressed to more influential roles within international research groups, taken on a new editorial position and successfully obtained funding for a new research programme.

ERA National grant initiative stimulates young members to become an active member of the nephrology society and contributes to the development of their career.

Considering that ERA is a very authoritative and representative nephrology association not only in Europe but throughout the world, the ERA National Societies Grant is certainly a significant achievement for my career and it already takes pride of place in my CV.

The ERA fellowship allowed me to collaborate with one of the foremost experts in my field, which was an amazing learning experience, in addition to being very productive, resulting in a number of joint publications.

ERA influences my daily work primarily through education. By watching regular webinars with experienced experts in the field and accessing the best nephrology journals, I gain very valuable knowledge in nephrology. I plan to apply for a clinical fellowship abroad, which ERA also offers.

The ERA Fellowship Program is an excellent opportunity for all young European nephrologists who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and advancing their careers. I had the chance to join this program, and I am very grateful for all the enriching experiences that brought me.
