Healthy environment for healthy kidneys
The ERA Congress promotes sustainable development and global responsibility in different ways: the aim is to encourage environmentally friendly behaviours and to raise awareness on the importance of a healthy environment for healthy kidneys.
Public transport in and around Stockholm
You reach ERA conference center Stockholmmässan via Älvsjö Station in only 10 minutes from the city. Trains depart every few minutes and provide a fast and ecofriendly arrival.
How to get your ticket:
– Tickets are available via smartphone app “SL Journey planner and tickets” or by tapping a contactless credit card to the card reader. There is no touch out to be done.
– The default single-journey fare is SEK 42 (ca. € 3,70) and valid for 75 minutes. Only in the app there are reduced options for 24 hours, 72 hours and 7 days tickets.

Ecofriendly travel to Stockholm
To travel sustainable and comfortable by train you can use long-distance services from several European cities:
– Copenhagen and Malmö are connected directly to Stockholm roughly hourly.
– For major distances there is a night train Berlin-Hamburg-Copenhagen-Stockholm and back once per day along as a night train Hamburg-Stockholm and back (SJ | 346 EuroNight). It is also possible to use regular intercities during the day for this journey.
– If you travel from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Poland or south of Germany there are frequent connections to Hamburg or Berlin where you can enter the night train.
Beware of Taxi fraud
To ensure a safe journey for you, we would like to bring to your attention an issue regarding taxi fraud in Stockholm.
Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous taxi imitators in Stockholm that charge significantly higher prices than the official taxi companies. These imitators are difficult to distinguish, “free drivers” often display very similar signage/logos on their cars.
We strongly advise visitors to be careful and to ensure they take a taxi from one of the four recommended companies.

Arlanda Airport is located 49 km North of Stockholm. The Arlanda Express is the non-stop train service that links Stockholm City with the Airport. Arlanda Express is a fast, comfortable and environmentally friendly way to travel between Arlanda Airport and Stockholm C. The journey takes only 18 minutes. Trains depart six times every hour during peak hours, and every fifteen minutes at other times. The train interior has received several awards for its design, interior and service. Accommodation
Interplan is the official partner for accommodation bookings for ERA Congress 2024.
Please be aware that an increasing number of fraudulent companies are offering hotel rooms and/or registrations to congress attendees. If you are contacted by any company or agency other than Interplan offering housing for the ERA Congress 2024 in Stockholm, don’t hesitate to contact us at era-congress@interplan.de. Please note that these companies are not authorized to represent the ERA in any way, nor do they have access to the officially contracted ERA Congress 2024 room blocks or rates.
How Does Hotel Fraud Work?
These groups promote attractive deals with local accommodation providers, but once payment has been received, the company disappears and can no longer be contacted by phone or email. Once the attendee contacts the hotel directly about their room, they realise the hotel has no record of them or their stay. Not only is their money gone, but they must also then scramble to find last-minute accommodation, which is rarely convenient to the venue.
How to Avoid Fraud?

VISA & invitation letters
ERA will provide an invitation letter after the registration to the conference is finalized and paid. This invitation letter will be available at your My ERA account. The invitation letter will be in English and may be a valid document for University, Hospital, Industry, and any other professional requirement as proof of registration. The invitation letter is NOT valid as a visa support letter.
Depending on your citizenship, you may need to obtain a visa to enter Sweden. For detailed information, visit the website of the Swedish Migration Agency https://www.migrationsverket.se/English.html
It is solely the delegate’s responsibility to investigate the visa requirements for Sweden and apply for a visa, if necessary. Neither the conference organizers nor ERA will contact embassies or consulates directly on behalf of visa applicants despite embassies do request it.
To assure a smooth process any visa should be requested at least 2 months prior to departure. Later applications might be possible, however, as the application process can take several weeks, it might be possible that the visa will be released on time.

Please ensure that copies of passport, hotel & registration confirmation are enclosed to any request for visa support. Furthermore, we kindly ask you to specify which embassy is meant to receive your application (Swedish Embassy of which city/country).
