Activity
Basics of registries and data collection systems in kidney transplantation. Focus on the role of traditional and non-traditional biomarkers for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality
Objectives:
- The characteristics of preemptive transplantation (PKT) and survival analysis of the CRISTAL database were performed
- timing and the potential advantages of PKT over alternative therapeutic renal replacement modalities were analysed.
- Potential association between eGFR and other associating factors with death and graft failure after PKT were studied.
Results:
- eGFR and donor type are not associated with death or graft failure in PKT.
- Uremic burden index (UBI) can potentially be a novel marker of identifying patients at high risk for unnecessarily early or too late PKT. Risk assessment at the time of PKT might be crucial to approach the “PKT in due course” concept.
